A.P.S. DIRECTIVE # 9                                                                                                            MARCH 3, 2008

SUBJECT:    PROCEDURE FOR REPLACEMENT OF AUXILIARY POLICE

                        VEHICLES

       1.             Fleet Services now requires Support Services Division’s approval for all requests for

Auxiliary Police vehicle replacement.  Therefore, all requests for the replacement of an Auxiliary

Police Vehicle will be on typed letterhead communication from the Police Commanding Officer

to the Commanding Officer, Auxiliary Police Section.  This request will then be endorsed by the

Commanding Officer, Auxiliary Police Section and forwarded to the Commanding Officer, Support

Services Division for final approval before it is forwarded to Fleet Services.  As before, it is still

necessary to specify the vehicle number, the date the vehicle was condemned and the shop number

that condemned the vehicle.  Any deviation from this procedure will only cause your request to be

returned to you, ultimately delaying the replacement of your Auxiliary Police Vehicle.

       2.            In addition and as a reminder, all Auxiliary Police Vehicles must have a permanently

affixed operable EZ-Pass tag attached to the front windshield.  Any Auxiliary police vehicle not

utilizing an EZ-Pass tag while traveling through a toll will subject the driver to disciplinary action

and possible forfeiture of the commands Auxiliary Police Vehicle.  Also, Auxiliary Police Vehicles
are only to be used for Auxiliary Police related functions (patrol, details, etc.), unless exigent
circumstances exist and the Police Commanding Officer authorizes the vehicles use by other than
the Auxiliary Police Coordinator or Auxiliary Police personnel.

     3.              For your information and sustained compliance.
