SUBJECT:         FINAL BATON AND UNARMED SELF-DEFENSE TEST 

         1.                Auxiliary Police Section has become aware that Auxiliary Police
Coordinators are training and testing auxiliary police applicants on the four (4) count
thrust during the baton session.  Effective immediately, Auxiliary Police Coordinators are
ordered to cease training auxiliary police applicants on this technique.  This technique is no
longer in effect, however, all other components for the baton training will continue to be
employed.  

         2.                 The New York State Criminal Justice Services and Auxiliary Police
Section mandates strict compliance of this order and under no condition is this order to be 
superseded.  Auxiliary Police Coordinators that continue to teach this technique will be
held accountable in the event of any incident resulting from this technique.
